SUSTAINABILITY: A STEP FORWARD WITH BLUE CARBON

.

At Aero, we don’t just see climate change as a distant threat; we witness its impacts first-hand. Our headquarters is nestled on Florida’s northern Gulf Coast, where the rising sea levels and vanishing wetlands paint a troubling picture of our changing climate. We know our operations contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, and we’re committed to being part of the solution.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CHANGE

We’re working to help initiate a unique blue carbon project that aims to offset emissions right here in our backyard. This localized approach addresses a global crisis, serving as a beacon for corporate environmental responsibility. The goal of our work is to not only improve the near-term health of our estuaries, but to be the catalyst for a lasting commitment to their preservation.

THE POWER OF BLUE CARBON

Why focus on our waters? That’s because the oceans are a significant carbon reservoir, which absorb a quarter of human-produced CO₂ emissions, with phytoplankton leading the charge in this natural mitigation process. However, the increasing volume of emissions is overwhelming these natural defenses.

Aero is helping turn the tide with targeted action. We’re investing in the restoration of "blue carbon" ecosystems like salt marshes, oysters, and seagrass beds, notably within the Pensacola and Perdido Bay estuaries. These ecosystems not only bolster biodiversity but are also powerful allies in capturing carbon dioxide. What’s more, they support our fisheries, our tourism industry, and the quality of life that has drawn humans here for millennia.

FOSTERING A BLUE CARBON FUTURE

Aero is helping PPBEP as it studies ways to as it works to restore blue carbon ecosystems and inviting more companies to join the climate action journey. The effort aims to offer a tangible means to counterbalance emissions, backed by scientific validation.

PARTNERSHIP FOR PROGRESS

We’re working with the Pensacola and Perdido Bay Estuary Program (PPBEP), driving efforts to restore these natural carbon sinks. Our support will support efforts to restore oyster and seagrass habitats and sustain vital scientific research. Our ultimate goal is to help PPBEP offer carbon offsets to restore blue carbon ecosystems, backed by solid science, to many other companies who want to make a stand for our coastal environment.

JOIN US ON THIS JOURNEY

We’re not just working to offset emissions; we want to breathe life into ecosystems, champion biodiversity, and build a resilient, sustainable future for the region and for the planet. We encourage you to join us in this effort and soon you’ll be contributing with every flight you take.
